bit of time when basing and converting miniatures.
After much trial and error I settled on the idea of using thermoplastic.
I started looking into a product called Instant mold and came across two others that seem to be the exact same thing.

The first I found was something called Friendly plastic, and it tends to be used by arts & crafts types for all kinds of projects, the second was called Polymorph and seems to be targeted at the prototyping and engineering market.

Having experimented with each Instant mold, Friendly plastic and Polymorph I concluded the best value is Polymorph. beyond that they all have the same properties and the non commercial chemical name of the plastic they are made from is Polycaprolactone (PCL)

Its quite readily available under many names but the more specialist the marketing, the higher the price.

So yeah, Just and 2 moves later I have time and space to indulge my hobby again.

On my workbench at the moment are:

Fimir Battlefiend -using classic heroquest fimir warrior with the arms of a catchan jungle fighter and the hands of a goblin bowman. also replaced the tail with a tentacle from the chaos spawn sprue. has beefed it up a bit from a 25mm base and increased the footprint of the model so it will require a 40mm base.
If i decide to start playing Warhammer again I'll have a battlefiend model for the storm of chaos supplement.

A lot of bloodbowl miniatures. - an old undead team I need to strip down and several star players and big guys to paint and base as well as a plastic team of each race from the 2nd ed box and kerrunch. will probably go on 30mm round lip bases, I quite like the way they look.

various monsters for AHQ. because, well, why not?

Maybe a new mordheim gang, Recently found a supplement called boarder towns burning which looks to be an eastern variant in the same vein as the khemri and lustria supplements.

oh, and to paint still there is my rat giant. (giant scale rat ogre.) so all fun and games.

On another note, I am quite pleased that GW has decided to rerelease some of the classic range of figures and brought back some of the old school races. most notably the Fimir and the Zoats, I like monstorous races that may not be all together evil. though, with the fimir that's debatable.

IMO what GW need to do is start selling the components again and encouraging conversions.
Also, they should do another quest type board game or revive mordheim, Necromunda and gorkamorka.

Anyway, enough waffle.

-=R286=-
<img width='1' height='1' list

for now its just going to be a list, but i will try to come back and go into a little detail about each race and the possibility of incorporating them into Mordheim<br figures.
mostly using simple washes and dry brushing (mostly due to me just wanting them painted)
but the fimir i painted and re-based the other day turned out OK

i took him off the big lump of plastic he was on using a razor saw. and placed him on a bloody, swampy, watery 25mm base. i was quite pleased with that. i'm currently playing around with some rules for Fimir in Mordheim. so stay tuned.

next came a "Chaos Champion" Figure
its actually the 2004 games day model "Archaon on foot"
but i thought he deserved to be painted and may get used with AHQ

<img mini before painting it) I'm quite proud of this one. and he is a big lump of metal, roughly the same hight as a GW ogre easily.
a great end boss for any game of AHQ.

then i got thinking with all of these bad guys getting a boost, what about the hero's themselves?

so I paid a visit to heresy miniatures and brought myself "Sherbet van Halfling" the vampire hunter. I still need to give him some stats for use in game, but he does fit quite nicely.
i may get the halfling barbarian and wizard from that range too.

<img the bag of gold and paint him up as a leprechaun.

i do need to neaten most of these up though. take the rough edges off the bases with some black paint.
<br miniatures version of fallout tactics called Fallout Warfare and i decided to make a small warband for use in this game.
many months passed and i kept getting distracted by life and shiny things and the whole idea got put on hold.
the other day however, I decided that i would paint up a test figure and base him in the style that best suits the fallout universe, so here he is:

The base is a coca cola glass bottlecap roughed up and re painted as a "Nuka-Cola" cap.
im still not too sure abou the sand on the base though, i may need to attempt another one.
the figure its self has had a very lazy inks + highlight paint job for the sake of speed.

Scale is 28mm, figure is Catchan fighter with lasgun from the warhammer 40k range.
i think it works quite well though.

-=R286=-<div captain from the 1999 UK games day.
i have painted him ant stripped him down a few times since then to represent the captain of my current army of the time before i settled on this paint
